Teddy Bears covered the ice as the Vets hosted their Annual Teddy Bear Toss during a loss to Norwich
The Battle of Highway 59 went to the Norwich Merchants.
After scoring twice in the first period and two more goals in the second period, the Merchants picked up a demanding 5-nothing lead early in the third period. A powerplay goal by Mike Gillespie would finally get the Navy Vets on the scoreboard but they couldn't battle back and lost 5-1 to Norwich.
Patrick Tanner faced 36 shots in the net for Woodstock as the Vets suffered their 15th loss in a row.
The big winners of the night were Ingamo Homes, DASO and the Salvation Army. Fans tossed teddy bears on the ice in support of the Navy Vets Annual Teddy Bear toss; all of the stuffed animals were collected and donated to Ingamo Homes and Daso; non-perishable food items were also collected at the door and handed over to the Salvation Army to stock their food bank.
Woodstock host Delhi Friday night, an important game for both teams as they are tied with 7 points each at the bottom of the league. The two teams are fighting for the 8th and final playoff berth.
