Kids can participate in a run-bike-run multisport event this month at Southside Park.
WOODSTOCK - Woodstock Triathlon Club is holding a multisport event this month at Southside Park for kids.
Woodstock Triathlon Member, Terri Jenkin talks about the duathlon.
"Kids Du is a non-competitive run-bike-run for kids age 3 to 13 and its to get kids motivated be active, be outdoors and enjoy the sunshine."
The duathlon gets underway at 9:00 a.m. on June 24th starting in Southside Park. The event is divided into five age groups; 3 to 5, 6 to 7, 8 to 9, 10 to 11 and 12 to 13.
Jenkin adds that kids aren't as active as they used to be.
"1/3 of kids actually are the only ones who are going outside and doing outdoor activities and as the kids age their not getting outdoors. We want to start them early, get them motivated."
A balance bike, road bike or mountain bike, a properly fitted helmet and running shoes are required. A water bottle, hat and sunscreen is highly recommended.
Registration is now open. Register as soon as possible to ensure your child's spot. Pricing is as followed:
Ages 3 to 5 - Individual $22.00 or Family $20.00.
Ages 6 to 13 - Individual $32.00 or Family $28.00.
