Names are needed for four schools including the new one in Woodstock.
TVDSB - The Thames Valley District School Board is asking for your help!
New schools added into communities need name suggestions, including the new Woodstock Public School at 717 Knights Lane.
TVDSB received funding approval to build this elementary school and childcare centre in north Woodstock. The school will have space for 856 students with a five-room childcare centre for 10 infants, 30 toddlers, and 48 preschoolers.
From now until April 11th, at 12:00 a.m. you can submit your name suggestions through the boards Public Input Page online here.
Name submissions reflecting the name of an individual or family member will not be considered.
Submissions can reflect on any name connected to local Indigenous Peoples, history, and traditions, as long as it’s not the name of an individual or family. It can also apply to the area in which the school is located, the name of the street on which the school is located, the name of the district or area the school is to serve, or values or principles.
A naming selection committee will review all submissions and recommend three options for each school. Pending Trustee approval, staff will ask school communities to vote for one of three options for their school's name.
The other schools in need of a name include two new ones in London, and what’s currently known as Lord Roberts FI Public School in London. Thames Valley voted in favour of renaming Lord Roberts back in January 2024, following a public consultation period.
