Stratford Police and EMS were called to a home at 1:00 this morning after a man suffered a suspected overdose and was revived by Narcan.
STRATFORD - Another day, another reported overdose in the Region.
Stratford police were called to a home at 1:00 a.m. this morning in the City's North End. A 65 year old man suffered an apparent overdose. Another man in the home administered two shots of Narcan and the man was conscious and alert when Police and EMS arrived. He was taken to the Stratford General Hospital as the effects of Narcan only last for a short period of time.
At this time, the drug used by the male is unknown, however; due to the effectiveness of the Narcan administered, it is suspected to be an opioid class drug.
This media release is nearly identical to a release issued yesterday, regarding an incident from Saturday, March 30, 2019. As a result, the police are asking the public to, once again, use extra caution when using any intoxicating substances. Opioid's are known to be mixed in with other drugs, and the potency can be extremely unpredictable, causing an overdose with only a very small amount. Please use harm reduction strategies; obtain a Narcan kit, never use any drug while alone, and never hesitate to call 911 should you require assistance.
