Another story of an opioid overdose in the region from this past weekend, this time it happened near Stratford.
STRATFORD - EMS in Stratford likely saved a 60 year old man's life after an opioid overdose on Saturday night.
Paramedics administered Narcan to the man at his home in Perth South. The man did not have any vital signs when EMS crews and Police arrived. Shortly after the Narcan was given, the male was revived and he came to consciousness. He was then taken to the Stratford Hospital for further treatment.
This incident once again brings awareness to the dangers of Opioid's such as Fentanyl. These drugs can be extremely potent and lethal even when used in very small amounts. It is important that people use harm-prevention strategies and are very cautious when consuming any type of illegal substance. It is encouraged that you have a safety plan in place with a Narcan kit available to you, with someone who can help you administer it. And please never be afraid to call 911 should you have any concerns for you safety or well-being.
This is just the latest incident of overdoses from opioid's in our region over the weekend. We have already reported on a total of 6 overdoses in Brantford and Woodstock, 2 in Tillsonburg and this one near Stratford in a 48 hour span.
