RoseAnne Archibald has been ousted as the national chief of the Assembly of First Nations following human resources complaints against her.

CANADA - The Assembly of First Nations will have to find a new national chief.

RoseAnne Archibald was ousted from the position yesterday, a little more than two years after she became the first woman to become the national chief. A special chiefs assembly gathered to discuss a human resources investigation into complaints against her.

The position will remain vacant until the executive committee selects an interim national chief.

Canada's premiers will be meeting with national Indigenous leaders on July 10th, before their summer meeting in Winnipeg. The AFN will begin its annual general meeting in Halifax on July 11th and it should end on July 13th.
