World War two veterans can contact Veterans Affairs Canada for their commemorative pin.
OXFORD COUNTY - Canadian Veterans from the Second World War are being honoured by the federal government with a special tribute. The new national tribute is to mark the 75th anniversary of Canada's engagement in the Second World War. Oxford MP Dave MacKenzie made the announcement earlier this week. Any Canadian who served in the war is able to apply for a limited edition commemorative lapel pin and personalized certificate of recognition.
The design of the pin will be based on the original 'Victory Nickel' which features a flaming torch and a large 'V' standing for both victory and the coin's denomination.
MacKenzie says we will forever be indebted to the veterans for the sacrifices they have made and it's appropriate the recognize them in this manner. Applications can be made to Veterans Affairs Canada.
