The Woodstock Naval Veterans Association is being inducted onto the Woodstock Sports Wall of Fame for the Lifetime Achievement Category.
WOODSTOCK - The Woodstock Sports Wall of Fame is getting ready to induct this year’s crop of inductees.
Going up on the wall for the Lifetime Achievement Category this year is the Oxford County Naval Veterans Association. The Association has helped numerous sports teams in the area, including the Navy Vets rep hockey teams in Woodstock. President of the Navy Club Bryan Bucholtz tells Heart FM they have always supported local sports teams.
"I would think that just because a lot of the founding members and a lot of the Naval Vets have always been sports fans and that is one of the reason we have always supported local sports."
Bucholtz says they have always supported Woodstock Minor Hockey and off and on with Junior C team the Navy Vets and they also have supported other sports.
"We sponsored one of the soccer fields up at the soccer complex; we have a field named in our honour."
The inductees will be unveiled at a special ceremony on October 29th at Goff Hall in the Woodstock and District Community Complex.
