Oxford's NDP candidate gives her take on the upcoming election
OXFORD COUNTY - Election fever is starting to heat up in Canada and the same can be said in Oxford County for the 2015 Federal Election.
NDP candidate Zoe Kunschner is hoping to make a difference and has been campaigning since January. Kunschner tells Heart FM about the number one issue she has heard from residents while door knocking across the County. "People are feeling the inequality, I've heard from so many people and it is not messaging. We're working harder and we're falling further behind; that's why I have heard such a huge positive response to our $15 a day child care plan."
Another thing she talked about was, "The trade deals that our being negotiated behind closed doors, that are putting corporate interests ahead of our farmers. My biggest concern, and it is shared with our farming community, is how these deals are going to be affecting our supply management." The deals she was talking about and is trying to get some information on is the European Trade Agreement and the Trans Pacific Partnership.
Kunschner says people are telling her they are ready for a change and she says the NDP are the best strategic choice for the people of Oxford County who want to see the Conservatives fall out of power. She plans on spending her summer knocking on doors and attending events to get to know the people of Oxford and get a sense of some of the issues important to them.
The Green party and the Liberals have not announced a candidate for Oxford County at this time.
