NDP Leader In Woodstock

NDP Leader, Andrea Horwath

Hitting the ground running, NDP Leader Andrea Horwath will be in Woodstock at 5:30pm today.

WOODSTOCK - With the provincial election days away, party leaders are making their rounds in last ditch efforts to gain supporters.

NDP leader Andrea Horwath has a full itinerary for the day, she began her day in London for a campaign event.  While enroute to Sarnia, Horwath took time to call Heaet FM from her campaign bus to tell us why she will be in Woodstock later today.

"I thought it was important to popback into Woodstock and show people of the Oxford County area that they have a choice this election, that they don't have to go from bad to worse, from Kathleen Wynne to Doug Ford and they can chose the kind of change that will make life better for their family."

Horwath will move on to Chatham, and St.Thomas before ending her day in the friendly city at local candidate Tara King's office on 512 Dundas Street.

The Oxford riding has had either a conservative or liberal leader at the helm for a few decades now, Horwath believes that has not been good for families in rural communities.

"Small town Ontario, rural Ontario needs more than just the right agricultural policies, they needed to keep their schools open, they need to make sure they have access to quality health care and that their smaller community hospitals aren't threatened which is what has happened in the past with both Conservative and Liberal governments."

When asked about Kathleen Wynne conceding, Horwath says that Wynne played a dangerous game.

"Her decision the other day, I think it shows people she has given up the fight against Doug Ford's cuts, but I have not given up the fight, I'm going to fight that fight right up until Thursday.  People have a serious choice to make on Thursday.  It's pretty disappointing, her announcement was about how she could be in power at Queens park and it was actually very tone deaf.  People don't want her in power anymore.  People really do want big change this time around."

Horwath will be making a statement at 5:30pm at Tara King's office.  Heart FM will provide an updated story on Horwath's feelings about the contentious issues of municipalities having the right to chose landfills as well as the NDP's views on the high-speed rail.
