WOODSTOCK - A new sculpture is in Woodstock.
It is the first Public Art Commission, which is an 18-foot-tall project with the name Wind Vane.
The sculpture was created by Nicholas Crombach and features a large steel arch topped with the figure of a youth holding a weathervane.
Crombach was awarded the $55,000 commission in 2022 following a selection process which included a provincial call to artists, a shortlist and public consultation.
Wind Vane will soon be accompanied by the City’s next public art commission, which commemorates historic artist Florence Carlyle, for whom the park is named after.
The shortlisted artists and proposals for the Florence Carlyle Sculpture Commission will be announced in the spring of 2024.
More information about the City’s public art program can be found online.
