Darren Sweazey is ready to take on his new role when he is sworn in on October 2nd.
WOODSTOCK - Woodstock's soon to be Deputy Police Chief says it's an honour to serve the citizens of the Friendly City.
Current Inspector of Operations Darren Sweazey was recently appointed to the position of Deputy Chief - a position being vacated by Daryl Longworth as he leaves for the London Police Service.
Sweazey says there are a few big issues in the city he'll be focusing on in his new position. "Drug abuse and the fall out crimes and social issues that it creates. Continuing to raise awareness in regards to mental health and also very concerned about the physical and emotional wellbeing of members of this service. And of course another issue is elder abuse - something I pay particularly close attention to."
He says the best way to deal with this issues is to look for creative solutions. "Always to look for innovative solutions, whether those solutions come from within the service or through partnerships with out community partners, I'm open to everything," says Sweazey.
"I'm very proud of the service, I enjoy working here, I've invested 25 years working here, and I look forward to the future."
