New electric vehicle charging stations will be installed in Woodstock and Ingersoll before the end of the year.
WOODSTOCK - Oxford County will have four new electric car charging stations in place before the end of the year.
They were given $350,000 from the Province to install the stations in Woodstock and Ingersoll. Oxford originally applied for $900,000 in funding to install 16 charging stations across the County. Warden David Mayberry tells Heart FM they are still hoping achieve this goal.
"What we really want to do is have it fully integrated across the whole county system so you could go anywhere in Oxford County and be within a reasonable distance to a charging station, so we drew up a plan, where we would have 16 different charging stations in 12 communities."
The Province only approved them for the 4 charging stations at $350,000; however Mayberry says they still want to find a way to stick with their original plan.
"We're now looking at is ok well we have to take that funding but how can we seek partnership in that so we can out and reach a little further, whether it be private or public dollars or research dollars to have a fully integrated County system."
County staff has been asked to looking into additional funding opportunities to install more charging stations in the County.
