Premier Doug Ford will be making an announcement at 10:30 a.m. today and there are reports suggesting he will announce new emergency measures in response to the anti-COVID mandate protests in Windsor.

ONTARIO - A new state of emergency could be on the horizon for Ontario.

According to CTV News, the Ford Government will invoke new emergency measures today in response to the anti-COVID mandate protests. These mandates would allow for tougher fines and penalties against protestors at the border.

The protest known as the Freedom Convoy first arrived in Ottawa almost two weeks ago and protestors remain stationed in the capital at this time. Another demonstration has caused disruptions at the Ambassador Bridge in Windsor, which lead to Toyota deciding to pause production at its plants in Woodstock and Cambridge. Premier Doug Ford is scheduled to make an announcement at 10:30 a.m. today. He will be joined by Solicitor General Sylvia Jones, Attorney General Doug Downey and Minister of Transportation Caroline Mulroney.
