Excavating work has been taking place at the former Iron Grill property in Woodstock. The 1.5-acre site on Dundas St. will be home to a brand new Mazda Dealership later this year. Owner Greg Dubois tells Heart FM that construction on the building will begin next month. "This building demonstrates our commitment to the community. The long term investment we're making back into Woodstock. And certainly beautifying the area because it hasn't looked very good the last couple of years after the fire." It's a total projected investment of $2-million, in building a new modern "Glass and Steel" dealership, which Dubois says fits more in line with Mazda's brand and image. "Like all the other manufacturers, Mazda has an image program. Our building, while it's typical rural, it's a folksy-looking building, with the pitched roof and wood siding, it doesn't comply with that "Steel and Glass" look, and that's what the new building will be." He's hopeful it will be complete by Canada Day. More details on the new dealership is posted in today's video news update below.
