Builders working on a new subdivision in Norwich will take measures to preserve the home of a red headed woodpecker
NORWICH - A brand new subdivision has been approved for the Village of the Norwich.
Norjunction Estates will have 47 lots and it will be located near the Emily Stowe Public School on Dufferin Street. Oxford County council gave the final approval for the subdivision. Norwich Township Mayor Larry Martin tells Heart FM they did have to add one designation before they could approve building in that area.
"They have looked at it from an environmental standpoint - a red headed woodpecker was spotted so they have to maintain the bush, which is good, I mean it is nice to maintain that mature tree cover."
Martin says the developer has agreed to maintain the mature trees in the bush where the red headed woodpecker was spotted. Development could begin as early as this summer.
