Woodstock City Council is going to spend just over $81,500 on new solar panels for the Woodstock Police Station.
WOODSTOCK - The Woodstock Police Station will have new solar panels installed in the near future.
Once they are up and running they will create their own power, feed it into the grid and provide another energy source downtown.
City Engineer Harold deHaan says this will benefit the whole city.
"It will help the police station but it will also feed into the overall distribution of the system in the city."
It's going to cost the city $81,593.41 including HST. Council set aside $90,000 for the project in the 2018 budget.
deHaan says we could see them up and running in the next couple of months.
"We don't have an exact schedule yet but hopefully before the end of the year."
