The Town of Ingersoll will be putting up more stop signs in the new subdivisions around the area.
INGERSOLL - Ingersoll is adding some new stop signs to the Harrisview Phase 6 project.
Town council approved the new signs at council meeting on January 14, 2019. The new signs will help with the growing volume of traffic and growth of new homes in a number of new subdivisions. Mayor of Ingersoll, Ted Comiskey says it's up to the town to add in traffic control.
"Once a subdivision has reached a certain point and you have a certain amount of traffic on there. Then we as the municipality have to put the restrictions on the stop signs at our concern. That is not the commitment of the developer."
Comiskey also said that traffic controls had to be put in place.
"Once a development reaches a certain point, we are advised my the developer or citizen in the community that now is the time because of the number of cars now active within the subdivision. Then the traffic controls then have to be put in."
The Harrisview Phase IV, Westfield Heights, and Golf Estates Subdivision have grown and require traffic control with the increase of vehicle volume. The 6 new stop signs will be approximately $600 and that money will come from the Public Works Operating Budget.
From Montgomery Way and Sutherland Street onto Hollingshead; Minler Street onto Whiting Street and Glenn Avenue and Cash Crescent and Whiting Street onto Clark Road. Staff will be setting up stop signs at intersections of these roads.
