Executive Director Kelly Gilson says the topic of this session will be focusing on harm reduction.
OXFORD COUNTY - A new topic of interest is coming to the Community United Conversation Series.
United Way Oxford first started the online series to create a safe and open environment for residents to learn about unignorable social issues in the County.
Executive Director Kelly Gilson says the topic of this session will be focusing on harm reduction.
"I think we have increased awareness of some of these issues and resources that save people in our community. But I think there's a lack of understanding of what harm reduction really is and what that means."
Gilson added that they have a panel of LOCAL addiction service professionals so that they can provide attendees with county-specific resources.
"We want to make sure we have people who can not only speak to the topic but also make the connection to Oxford, why it matters here, and the program and services that are available. We want that full circle."
The panel will include representatives from Southwestern Public Health, Canadian Mental Health and Thamesford Valley Addictions, the regional HIV/AIDs Connection, and Oxford County Community Health Centre.
A Q&A period will be open to attendees after the presentation.
The event starts at 7:00 p.m. and is free to attend. You can register by emailing Amanda at United Way at amanda@unitedwayoxford.ca.
The session will also be recorded and posted on their website later this week.
