25 years of experience in Woodstock will come in handy for the Friendly City's new Deputy Police Chief
WOODSTOCK - The Woodstock Police Service has a new Deputy Police Chief.
Darren Sweazey was officially sworn in on Monday afternoon filling the position Daryl Longworth held for 6 years. Sweazey has served at the Woodstock Police Service for 25 years and is looking forward to his new role. "I'm absolutely thrilled to serve the citizens of Woodstock in this capacity, and I certainly look forward to whatever I'm confronted with in the future. We would like to continue and to foster new relationships with the citizens of Woodstock because it is the whole city that makes the city, not the police department." Chief of Police Bill Renton celebrates his 1st anniversary in November and is excited to work with his new Deputy.
Heart FM Spoke to Sweazey about what he plans to do as the new Deputy Chief. "Well I will certainly continue on with the leadership that Deputy Police Chief Daryl Longworth provided, along with Chief Bill Renton, and Inspector Paul Hess we will continue and I very much look forward to the future."
Sweazey wasn't the only person recognized in a ceremony on Monday afternoon - Paul Hess was promoted to Inspector of Operations.
Although it may have been a long road to get here the the new Deputy Police Chief knows it has been worth it. "25 years ago when I started I would have never thought I would have been in this position, but having been here for 25 years I have enjoyed every job that I have taken on. I spent my whole career here in Woodstock and I have enjoyed every moment of it, and I plan on retiring here as well."
