Were you surprised by the federal election results?
OXFORD/OTTAWA - The federal election results are in!
Here in Oxford County, Arpan Khanna will serve a second term as our Conservative Member of Parliament after securing over close to 38,000 votes (53.2 percent). Liberal candidate David Hilderley came in second place with just over 27,000 votes (37.9 percent).
Mark Carney will stay on as the Prime Minister of Canada with a Liberal minority government. Elections Canada says the Liberals secured 169 seats, and the Conservative Party will form the official opposition with 144 seats. The NDP finished with seven seats total, losing official party status.
