NHL Alumni Tour

Oxford OPP will take on NHL Alumni in Tillsonburg Saturday

TILLSONBURG -- Hockey Hall of Famers, Stanley Cup champs and Ambassador for the game, Walter Gretzky will hit the ice in Tillsonburg this weekend.

Saturday night, the Oxford County OPP Law Enforcement All-Stars will face off against the NHL Alumni Benefit Tour.

Constable Lisa Narancsik says their OPP team is ready for a night of fun, in support of a great cause.  "It's to raise money for the Special Olympics.  They're going to go out there and do the best that they can and have fun along with these other hockey players who are professional hockey players but who also are here for the fun and the sport of the game and to raise awareness with regards to the Torch Run and the Special Olympics so in the spirit of the event that's really what it's all about."

The night will feature not only the game but a skills competition featuring the world-class players and some hilarious on-ice practical jokes.

Narancsik says they have an impressive list of players coming out for the the NHL Alumni.  "The biggest would have to be Walter Gretzky who is going to be the guest coach for the NHL Alumni team along with his son who is also going to be playing.  There's tons of big names that are going to be playing.  Anybody who's a hockey fan probably with the whole list, there'd be some interest to see any of those players but as I said before, that whole Walter Gretzky being the guest coach it's going to be wonderful having him in the area."

Tickets for the event can be purchased by calling 1-877-431-0685 or online at www.benefithockey.com.  Doors open at 5:00 pm with the evening getting started at 6:00 pm.
