Nick Novacich will become the Chief of the Woodstock Police Service on October 3rd.
WOODSTOCK - We now know who will be the next Chief of the Woodstock Police Service.
The Woodstock Police Service Board announced today that Deputy Chief Nick Novacich will step into the position on October 3rd, 2025, once current Chief Rod Wilkinson officially retires from the position.
Police Board Chair Ken Whiteford says he's the right man for the job.
"The Board is really looking forward to working with Nick as of October 3rd. We are pleased that our succession planning efforts are paying off again with the opportunity to promote from within the Service as we did in 2022 with Chief Wilkinson. The Incoming Chief has a wealth of experience and contacts in the policing community which will be very beneficial in continuing to move our Service forward in the years ahead. He has performed with distinction over the past three years as Deputy and the Board is confident that he will do the same as Chief."
Novacich started his policing career in the Friendly City 30 years ago as a Recruit Constable. His resume has certainly grown over the years to include the titles of Scenes of Crime Officer, Use of Force Trainer, Firearms Officer, Tactical Team Member, and of course Deputy Chief.
He says he wouldn't be the man he is today without the Woodstock Police Service.

After three rewarding years as Deputy Chief working alongside Chief Wilkinson, I’ve seen firsthand how the Service continues to evolve and advance to meet the needs of our growing city. I’m honoured to take on this role of Chief of Police, where I can help lead and mentor both current and future members of this outstanding organization. With the progressive strategic direction established by the current administration, I look forward to contributing further and engaging meaningfully with all stakeholders across our community."
