The community can now nominate their favorite athlete for the W-C-I Steve Coad Athletic Hall of Fame.
WOODSTOCK - WCI is holding their fifth annual Steve Coad Athletic Hall of Fame later this year and nominations are now open.
The event is in its fifth year and is in honour of Coad, who was a former sports reporter for the Sentinel Review and the London Free Press and he graduated from WCI in 1969. He passed away in 2013.
In addition to being a former student, he was an avid sports fan in high school and Chairperson Kathy Roberts says it's a great way to honour him.
"I thought 'wow, this is a great way to honour his memory, being a sports reporter himself, and being such a loyal Red Devils fan and why not?"
Roberts adds there a few ways students can be nominated.
"They have to have attended WCI for their entire high school career and they have to have represented WCI, and competed at the high school level on a varsity team in a minimum of two sports."
Alumni are also eligible if they graduated from 2013 or earlier and have an outstanding achievement in one sport during their secondary and/or post-secondary sports career.
Nomination forms can be picked up at the main office at WCI or you can fill out a nomination form online at https://woodstock.tvdsb.ca/en/our-school/steve-coad-memorial-hall-of-fame.aspx
