Warden Larry Martin will present the 12th annual Oxford Stewardship Award to Chris Lee, Teresa Piraino or John McRoberts on Wednesday.
OXFORD COUNTY - Oxford County Warden Larry Martin will present the 12th annual Oxford Stewardship Award on Wednesday at the next meeting of County Council.
Martin says this award recognizes County landowners who have gone above and beyond in the preservation and enhancement of natural features and areas, such as woodlands, wetlands, streams and meadows.
"They are not making anymore farm land, so we have to look after what we got. They can do things like plant berms to cut down on erosion, plant trees in order to help with the environment and clean air. Really this is just a way for us to acknowledge and honour the people who are helping to make our area a better place to live."
The award will be presented virtually at 7:00 p.m. by the Warden Larry Martin, with Gordon Hough, Director, Community Planning, Oxford County, Cher Sprague with Stewardship Oxford and Wes Hart with Oxford Soil and Crop Improvement Association
Oxford County has provided profiles on the three nominees.
