A water tanker from Norwich Township is going to be on call to help out the Woodstock Fire Department.
OXFORD COUNTY - The fire departments in Norwich and Woodstock are going to have to share a water tanker for a while.
The city acquired new land from the township last month and they don't have any of their water services installed in the area yet.
Acting Fire Chief Jeff Slager says the tanker will bring the water to them.
"Basically it's just a large truck that has a large amount of water on the back of it, that's all it carries. It dumps the water into a portable pool and then we draft the water out of that into our pumper trucks."
Slager says the tanker will help them out if they have to respond to any fire east of Lansdowne.
"The Township of Norwich has a fire department in the area. They'll automatically have a tanker dispatched to that location so we're able to have a water source present for us to continue our fire fighting capabilities at that point."
The tanker will go back to serving just Norwich, once the city has their water services up and running.
