Devon Amey attended the Hockey Canada Development Camp in Montreal earlier this year.
NORWICH TOWNSHIP - Another sledge hockey player from Oxford County got to sport a Hockey Canada jersey.
Devon Amey got to participate in the Hockey Canada Development Camp in Montreal back in the spring.
He was scouted for the camp a few years ago, while he was competing in a tournament in London.
"Ken Babey, the Head Coach of Team Canada, came up to me and talked to me about how they liked the way I played and potentially they might send me an invite for a development camp. But due to COVID right after that, the development camp was shut down for a couple of years."
Amey got his invite in March 2022 and he attended the camp during the last week of April. He even got to meet Woodstock's very own Garrett Riley at the camp.
"I stopped him and talked to him about how I'm from Norwich, it's the first ever camp for me and how I'm pretty sure I'm the first person from Norwich to put on the Hockey Canada jersey."
Amey is getting ready to move to Ottawa with his father Rick Amey next month. Devon says the move will help move his sledge hockey career forward.
