The nomination forms have been submitted for Shawn Gear, as he looks to be re-elected in Ward 3 of Norwich Township.
NORWICH TOWNSHIP - A familiar face is running in the election for Ward 3 in Norwich Township.
Shawn Gear is the current councillor and has been a resident of Burgessville his entire life. Gear explains he got into politics to find and maintain accountability.
"Because that accountability just doesn't mean that I'm looking for the accountability from, you know, Township staff. That means that I'm being accountable to my constituents as well. And that is a huge moral avenue for myself that I would love to continue if re-elected within the Township of Norwich."
Gear says there is lots of learning when you get into politics, and he continues to learn even after serving almost one complete term as a councillor. He adds one area that has been top of mind for this current council.
"We've seen the need for infrastructure improvement, one of them, one main one of those being the roads. You know, we're not the only municipality; we're not the only county out there that is seeing deterioration as population grows."
Residents in Norwich Township will head to the polls on Monday, October 26, 2026, to cast their ballots.
