One Act Players Community Theatre will debut it's first full length one act play this weekend.
WOODSTOCK - The group that started the Festival of One Act Plays has launched One Act Players Community Theatre (OAPCT).
It will showcase two productions each year, including the festival in the fall. Ted McLaughlin says their maiden voyage will be taking place this weekend.
"This is our first inaugural full length one-act play! We're excited to put is on because we've done it all on our own right from scratch!"
It's called Lights, Camera, Murder and McLaughlin is the producer of the show. He says it's set on a movie soundstage in 1948.
"These characters are all coming together including the director, the press agent, Maxine Steele is the producer, the leading man, and two actresses. It's just this crazy character play and of course during this whole process, one of the characters is murdered."
Eva Bell will bring the character of Maxine Steele to life on stage.
"She is an interesting character! She's a little high strung, she previously was a child star turned producer. She's a little freaked out because her movie is three weeks late and a half a million dollars over budget!"
The entire show is about 1.5 hours with an intermission. McLaughlin says the first half of the show will lead up to the murder, and the second half will be all about solving the murder.
Lights, Camera, Murder will hit the stage at St. David's Church in Woodstock this Friday, Saturday and Sunday with a 7:30 p.m. start time.
Tickets can be purchased online here or at Carmen's Foto Source.
Ted McLaughlin and Eva Bell stopped by the Heart FM studio to chat with Dan and Marcie on Monday June 9th. You can listen to the full interview below:
