Local students have until May 1st to apply for the financial assistance.
OXFORD COUNTY - The Oxford Community Foundation is looking to help students prepare for post-secondary education.
The Foundation announced that there are 13 student awards worth a combined total of $12,970.
There are two new ones worth $1,800 from the Klosler Family. George and Gerri Klosler started the Fund with the Oxford Community Foundation in 2022, to support continuing education at the University of Guelph. When creating the fund, George shared why he wanted to give their good fortune to help others.
"I was able to get a good education. Education can change people’s lives for the better and that’s why Gerri and I set up the Klosler Family Fund with Oxford Community Foundation.
The Kloslers came to Canada from Romania where they went to school at the Ontario Agricultural College and University of Guelph.
Generous donors to the foundation have established several student awards that recognize more than just their academics. Some awards are based on good team play, community involvement, leadership, and those pursuing a future in the skilled trades.
Students who want to apply can see their school's guidance department and applications will be accepted until May 1st.
