With back-to-school season upon us, all of the Oxford County Library branches will be collecting school supply donations for the Best First Day campaign.
OXFORD - The annual Best First Day campaign continues this year.
The event has been running since 2001 and has been put together in order to deliver backpacks filled with school supplies to students across Thames Valley.
Oxford County has joined in and will be accepting donations until Tuesday, August 15th. You are encouraged to drop off items such as; backpacks, lunch boxes, water bottles, binders, markers/pencil crayons, pencil cases, notebooks, and scientific calculators.
Fundraising Specialist with the Thames Valley Education Foundation, Melissa Derbyshire says they are looking to help as many kids as possible.
"We have a goal of about 3500 backpacks to fill this year. We do that with help from the community, so we have a number of corporate organizations that will bring volunteers in to help us fill those backpacks."
Derbyshire adds, where you are able to donate any items.
"Really we are utilizing the Libraries in Oxford at this point. If there are locations that reach out to us, we certainly accept that as well."
With your donations, the campaign can make sure that students will be able to have the best first day when the new school year starts.
