"I am calling for Ontario's local public health units to be given the opportunity to decide if schools in their regions should reopen this year."
Ontario Liberal leader Steven Del Duca is calling on the Province to allow local health units to make the call on schools reopening.
Del Duca says as a father with two kids in a publicly funded elementary school, he wants to see kids back in the classroom as soon as possible.
"I am calling for Ontario's local public health units to be given the opportunity to decide if schools in their regions should reopen this year. I know that our PHUs will work closely with their respective school boards to arrive at an appropriate local decision."
Yesterday Chief Medical Officer of Health Dr. David Williams hinted that some school boards could be allowed to reopen as early as next week, however no official announcement has been made and no official announcement is even scheduled at the time of this writing.
