The province's Health Minister says Ontario could enter step one of the re-opening plan sooner rather than later.
Christine Elliott says the province may move up the re-opening date, as Ontario is "doing very well" in slowing down the spread of the virus.
She says while she doesn't think Ontario will be ready to enter step one a full week earlier, the re-opening may be a few days before the 14th.
"People are anxious to move into Step 1, but we can only do that when it's safe for everyone’s health for that to happen," Elliott said.
The Health Minister also says the province remains concerned about the variant initially discovered in India.
There is no word yet on when a final decision will be made.
Meanwhile, Premier Doug Ford noted yesterday that he's waiting on advice from Chief Medical Officer of Health Dr. David Williams about whether or not Ontario can re-open before the 14th.
Under step one, outdoor gatherings will increase to ten people, and patios will be able to re-open.
Non-essential retailers will also be able to operate with a capacity of 15 percent.
