The OSUM Conference will feature up to 250 municipal leaders from across Ontario next year running from April 29 to May 1st.
BRANT COUNTY - Brant County will host the Ontario Small Urban Municipalities Conference (OSUM) next year.
Director of Economic Development and Tourism, Russell Press says several leaders from across the province are expected to be in attendance.
“The OSUM Conference will welcome close to 250 municipal leaders from across Ontario to examine and address today’s important issues facing small urban communities."
The OSUM represents the official voice on issues affecting small urban municipalities within Ontario and is an integral part of the Association of Municipalities of Ontario (AMO), with a number of OSUM members serving on the AMO Board of Directors.
Advocacy, policy and research matters are undertaken by OSUM through AMO staff ensuring alignment and influence on matters that mean the most to small communities and their residents.
Press says they're already planning for next year's event.
“Following the 2019 OSUM Conference in the County of Renfrew and Pembroke, the County of Brant made a successful bid for the 2020 conference. Staff put forward the bid information necessary to host a successful conference in the County of Brant including a trade show, golf, plenary sessions and receptions. Planning is now underway.”
Hosting the OSUM Conference provides the opportunity to foster ties with municipalities from across Ontario, to introduce many attendees to the community ranked 7th best in Canada to live, all while generating an economic impact from this event that’s expected to exceed $150,000.
The figure doesn't include spending such as shopping, gas, and dining outside of the conference and attractions attendees will visit.
Press says the collaboration will make for a great event.
“Staff are excited to work with OSUM and AMO to host an impactful event in the beautiful County of Brant."
The OSUM Conference will run from April 29 to May 1st.
