Ontario Stay at Home Order Set to Expire Tomorrow

Some encouraging news on the province's fight against COVID-19.

The province has announced the stay at home order will officially expire tomorrow.

However, until stage one of the province's reopening plan begins, not much is expected to change.

The first stage of the first is currently slated to start on June 14th, but Health Minister Christine Elliott says it may start before then, as the province is on track to achieve the targeted milestones it had hoped for.

While it won't be illegal to go out for non-essential reasons, many of the measures enacted under Ontario's emergency brake will remain in place until June 14th.

Some of the restrictions under those measures include a limit of five people at outdoor social gatherings, and a continued ban on indoor gatherings.

Supermarkets, grocery stores and convenience stores will continue to be capped at 25 percent capacity, with non-essential retail items to remain off limits.

Restaurants and bars will remain open only for take-out, drive-through and delivery orders, and personal care services such as haircuts and manicures will also remain off-limits until that point.

Weddings, funerals and other religious services can have a maximum of ten people, and most indoor and outdoor recreational facilities will remain closed until the first stage starts as well.

This comes after the province extended the ban on interprovincial travel and recreational camping on public lands until at least June 16th.
