Operation Safe Driver Campaign Result

Oxford County laid a total of 3 charges.

OXFORD COUNTY - It was a low number of charges laid for the Oxford OPP.

During the Operation Safe Driver Campaign, officers were patrolling the roadways. They were looking out for speeding, improper lane changes and following too closely, which are the leading causes for commercial motor vehicle collisions. From the 12th to the 18th, officers in Oxford County laid a total of 3 charges, which were 1 for inspection and maintenance, 1 for permits, plates and driver's licence, and 1 for disobeying signs.

Over the entire campaign, the West Region, which spans 12 other detachments had 140 charges laid. Below is the list of how the charges were dispersed.

- CMV inspection and maintenance: 30
- CMV permits, plates, driver's licence: 25
- CMV Speeding: 25
- CMV Disobey sign: 18
- CMV Seatbelt: 11
- CMV Defective equipment/equipment: 8
- CMV Distracted driving: 6
- CMV Careless driving: 4

The annual campaign is designed to improve traffic safety for commercial motor vehicle operators and passenger vehicle drivers alike.
