Those who were found to be driving legally were rewarded with a Hershey Kiss
OXFORD COUNTY - Oxford OPP and Woodstock Police teamed up over the Labour Day long weekend to eliminate the threat of impaired drivers on our roadways.
Heart FM Reporter Shelby Knox attended one of the various RIDE Programs set up around the community, and caught up with OPP Constable Stacey Culbert on why it is important to have these types of programs. "It's always a big part of us to get the education out there, keep it safe and sober it is a simple message to remember. We were prepared with our mobile command unit on scene, we were then able to process any type of arrest that we would do and have that ability to do that roadside. We have to make sure that they understand the seriousness of drinking and driving."
Heart FM also spoke with Media Relation Officer Nikki VanLeeuwen with the Woodstock Police on Friday evening who was pleased with the results from that particular RIDE Program. "I would say that it was a great success tonight with the partnership with Ontario Provinicial Police and the Oxford County Injury Prevention Team. I think getting the word out and the information about the issues of driving high or under the influence of alcohol and people are getting the message. We are excited that we didn't have any arrests for impaired driving this evening." Drivers that were found to not be under the influence of drugs or alcohol received a Hershey Kiss as a reward for keeping Oxford County's roads safe.
