Normally on Long Weekends, the OPP put out a message about patrolling the Big Four. This year they want everyone to stay home, practice social distancing, avoid social gatherings and do not go to the cottage.
OXFORD COUNTY - The OPP is asking residents to stay home this Easter Long Weekend and to avoid family gatherings.
The message is also for anyone contemplating a trip to the cottage or trailer this long weekend. They are asking everyone to stay home and practice social distancing. OPP Chief Superintendent of the Highway Safety Division Rohan Thompson says they just want everyone to stay safe.
“The OPP acknowledges that this is a very difficult time for people. While our officers typically expect large volumes of traffic ahead of the Easter Long Weekend, in light of the current situation, the OPP thanks in advance all Ontarians who do their part to help stop the spread of COVID-19 by staying home.”
With roads now bare and warmer temperatures in store, drivers are being cautioned to not let the nicer weather negatively influence their driving behaviour.
The OPP is reminding those drivers who do need to travel this weekend to please observe and obey all traffic laws.
