Oxford OPP will be keeping a close eye on transport trucks this Spring.
They will join the MTO and Highway Safety restruction enforcing weight restrictions on our roadways during March and April. The OPP do this blitz every year to help minimize the damage to our roads during the Spring thaw. OPP will be enfocing a weight restriction by-law in Oxford County which started on February 15th.
The bylaw reads as follows:
Operate a dual axle tank truck, used exclusively for the transportation of liquid or gaseous heating fuel, and no two axle truck, used exclusively for the transportation of livestock feed, on a highway were any axle transmits to the highway a weight in excess of 7500 kilograms.
Operate a commercial motor vehicle or trailer where any axle of such commercial vehicle or trailer transmits to the highway a weight in excess of 5000 kilograms
Operate a vehicle having a carrying capacity in excess of 1000 kilograms other than a motor vehicle or trailer where the weight upon any millimetre in the width of tire exceeds five kilograms.
