OPP put out a few warnings and even laid one charge during a Family Day focus on snowmobiles.
PERTH - Some snowmobile operators were a little surprised when they encountered the OPP out on the trails on Family Day.
Perth OPP were out on popular trails and stopped 40 people over the course of the day. During that time they handed out multiple warnings, and even one charge was laid for a driver who was operating the snowmobile without insurance.
Police say they will continue to venture out onto the trails as the trail conditions improve to ensure users are following the Motorized Snow Vehicles Act.
Operators must follow the rules surrounding things like speeding, stopping at road crossings, and driving while intoxicated. Failure could result in fines, loss of drivers' licences, and criminal charges.
