A motorcycle collided with an SUV in the westbound lanes of Highway 401 between Elgin Road and Dorchester Road.
MIDDLESEX COUNTY - One person has been hospitalized after an SUV collided with a motorcycle in the westbound lanes of Highway 401.
Traffic was down to one lane in the construction zone between Elgin Road and Dorchester Road, while the OPP investigated yesterday evening.
Sergeant Ed Sanchuk posted a video on the OPP West Region X page at around 5:50 p.m.
"Just shortly after 5:00 p.m., the OPP along with Thames Centre Fire Department and Middlesex EMS responded to a report of a crash involving a motorcycle and a Sports Utility Vehicle. The motorcycle operator has been transported to a local area hospital to be treated for serious injuries, I just don't know how serious they are."
All of the lanes have since reopened and no further details have been released at this time.
Sanchuk is reminding all drivers out there to keep their eyes on the road.
"We're just asking everyone who may be travelling, please pay attention to what is in front of you, not what is on the side of the road. Look directly in front of you because we don't want to be investigating another crash while we are standing here. We have seen people attempting to take pictures and just rubbernecking. Do yourself a favour, get to where you're going safely and more importantly, get home safely to your families."
