A single-vehicle collision is under investigation by the Oxford OPP.

SOUTH-WEST OXFORD - An investigation is underway with the Oxford OPP.

Sergeant Ed Sanchuck posted a video on the OPP West Region's social media with this update.

"Earlier today, Monday, June 22nd, just shortly before 9 a.m. this morning, members of the Oxford Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police, along with Fire and Paramedic Services, responded to a report of a single motor vehicle collision."

Sanchuck added that the incident happened on Mount Elgin Road between Culloden Line and Dereham Line. He went on to mention in the video that there was a tragic end to the collision.

"When emergency services arrived on scene, we located the driver of a vehicle that had suffered serious life-threatening injuries, and I'm sad to say it was subsequently pronounced deceased on scene."

The driver is being identified as a 73-year-old from Tillsonburg, and police are saying a pickup truck left the roadway and collided with a concrete bridge embankment.

Sanchuck says that Mount Elgin Road between Culloden Line and Dereham Line will be closed for a significant amount of time so that the investigation can continue. He said once more information has been released, he will provide further updates.
