Officers rescued the person from the second floor of the home, who was then air-lifted to Toronto with life threatening injuries.
WATERFORD - Police had to go into a burning home to save a person trapped on the second floor in Waterford.
The fire started early Saturday evening on Sylvia Street. Police and EMS were the first to arrive to the scene. EMS immediately started treating one person, who told officers about another person still in the home.
Officers went into the burning building and rescued the person. They were taken to a local hospital and then air lifted to Toronto to be treated for serious life threatening injuries.
Volunteer firefighters arrived on scene and were able to extinguish the blaze. The Office of the Fire Marshal has been contacted and will be attending to assist with the investigation.
