Ontario SPCA is investigating a horrible case of animal abuse in Elgin County - three dogs found shot to death.
ELGIN COUNTY -- The OSPCA is investigating a gruesome case of animal abuse in Elgin County.
OPP notified the agency on August 26th of three deceased dogs found on the side of Southwold Township Road.
Investigators say the dogs suffered gunshot wounds to the head and face area - they say the wounds were consistent with the dogs being confined while shot. They also believe that one of the dogs was badly beaten.
All three dogs were wrapped in plastic, hanging on a guardrail when police found them.
In a release from the OSPCA, Senior Inspector Jennifer Bluhm says they are "urging anyone who may have information on who these dogs belonged to, or the owners themselves, to come forward and contact the Society." Tips can be called to 310-SPCA or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477), or email cruelty@ospca.on.ca.
Investigators say the dogs were all female, medium to large sized lab-type dogs, approximately 50 lbs; two red/tan coloured and one black with a white spot on chest.
