The Conservative Party has voted to elect a new leader after O'Toole lost a leadership review vote 73-45 today.
CANADA - The Federal Conservative Party will once again be selecting a new leader.
Erin O'Toole lost a confidence vote of his leadership 73-45 vote today. An interim leader will be selected right away and then the party will do a through review to select its next leader.
O'Toole is the third leader to lose to Justin Trudeau in a general election. Trudeau first came into power after unseating Stephen Harper. Andrew Scheer was the surprise choice as Harper's replacement and he was ousted after a poor showing at the polls.
Erin O'Toole was elected as a social conservative and many insiders at the party were upset with his decision to lean more to the centre after taking the leadership role.
