The new passports will be rolled out later this summer and Canadians will be able to renew their passports online starting this fall.
CANADA - Canadians will soon be able to renew their passports from the comfort of their own homes.
According to Immigration Minister Sean Fraser, the renewal process will be available online starting this fall.
He made the announcement alongside Families Minister Karina Gould today, while the two unveiled the new Canadian passport design. There will be a new cover design that features an outline of a maple leaf.
The new passports will also have state-of-the-art security features. This includes a polycarbonate data page, similar to a driver's license. Personal information will be laser engraved instead of printed with ink.
The new passports are set to be released later this summer and more details will be unveiled at a later date.
