Oxford-AstraZeneca Vaccine Deemed Safe for Canadian Seniors

Canadian officials are now saying there's enough real-world evidence to show that the Oxford-AstraZeneca vaccine is safe and effective for seniors.

CANADA - Canada's expert vaccine panel is changing it's tune when it comes to the Oxford-AstraZeneca COVID-19 vaccine.

The National Advisory Committee on Immunization is now saying there is enough real-world evidence to show that it's safe and effective for seniors.

Two weeks ago, it was recommending that the vaccine not be used for people over 65. Several European countries have stopped using it over concerns with blood clots.

Canada has received 500,000 doses of the AstraZeneca vaccine and Prime Minister Justin Trudeau says they're not from the batch linked to those side effects.

Four vaccines have been approved in Canada so far and Trudeau says Health Canada has guaranteed that they are all safe to use.
