Six out of nine of Oxford County's wastewater systems have achieved 100 percent compliance ratings.
OXFORD COUNTY - The annual wastewater system report in Oxford County did not offer up many surprises.
Warden Larry Martin says the overall compliance ratings were fantastic.
"It was all good news, when you can get six out of nine facilities operating at 100 percent and the other three operating at 99 percent, 96 percent and 95 percent that is very good news."
Ingersoll, Norwich, Mount Elgin, Tavistock, Tillsonburg and Woodstock were the municipal systems that hit 100 percent. The three systems not at 100 percent include Thamesford at 99 percent, Drumbo at 96 percent and Plattsville at 95 percent.
Martin says it was an encouraging report.
"We are looking after our environment and at the same time we are making sure that people and the residents within Oxford County that are on those services are being looked after."
The County invested more than $17 million in rate-supported (non-taxation) wastewater infrastructure last year, including County-wide sanitary sewer replacements, expansion of the Drumbo treatment plant, upgrades to the Tillsonburg treatment plant and more. In support of the County’s commitment to innovative and green technology, the program also undertook various projects to offset facility non-renewable energy consumption and reduce greenhouse gas emissions.
