Oxford County has launched a new online exhibit all about former Wardens and County Councils.
OXFORD - A new online exhibit is available on the Oxford County website.
Within the new exhibit named "Wardens & Council", there are two sections. County Council Composites dating back to 1896 are viewable, as well as Wardens from 1850 until present day. County Archivist Liz Dommasch says the Wardens even have their own biographies.
"We've been always wanting to tell the story of the Wardens. A lot of them have really fascinating stories beyond their political careers, so we want to able to share that on our platform."
One of the examples given by Dommasch was that between 1887 and 1949, three generations of Fewsters from North Norwich (William, Robert, George) were all Wardens of Oxford County.
Dommasch also says despite being able to search through the archives, the county could use help completing the Council Composites section.
"We are missing a few, so if there is anyone who might have one who'd be willing to donate or allow us to scan for a digital record, we would appreciate it."
