Oxford County is looking to apply for funding, which would help with the climate change action plan.
OXFORD COUNTY - Oxford County is looking to make good on a climate change action plan.
During the latest County Council meeting, there was an ask from staff. Warden, Marcus Ryan explains what council was asked for.
"In that context, staff saw that the federal government has a grant available for municipalities to apply to, to adapt and mitigate the effects of climate change. Part of that application process is that they have to have a resolution from council."
Warden Ryan says council had little debate and with no hesitation gave their support. He mentions staff would benefit from this potential money.
"Our staff are already working on ways to adapt and mitigate climate change, and this will hopefully speed it up."
If the application is successful, the County would get a grant of up to $140,000, which would help offset the cost of the climate change action plan.
